After removing a wall sheet in our bathroom, we were suddenly confronted by a sheet of broken asbestos. Although only 1.5m x 1m, we wanted to be safe and do the right thing and dispose of the asbestos correctly.

We phoned Greg, who offered to assist by safely dumping the asbestos. He gave us two clear options – pay to have him collect and manage the product entirely. Otherwise, for such a small amount, he would dump it properly if we could bring it to him safely wrapped.

Greg suggested a case of beer as a gesture of appreciation. He also gave us good advice regarding whether our vacuum cleaner was likely to be compromised. Greg’s offer transformed the horror of getting involved with asbestos into a simple task where he was assisting us for no financial gain.

I run a business and understand the effort required to pay staff and overheads. Beer is not valid currency for business. The world could use more people like Greg and I would not hesitate to contact him with a bigger job requiring more intervention or to recommend him to others.
